Dark and Light is a 3D fantasy MMORPG developed by NPCube. The story of this free MMORPG revolves around two factions – the Dark and the Light – both competing for supremacy in the land of Ganareth and its 13 kingdoms. Dark and Light was built with size in mind. The MMORPG was designed to have 15,000 square miles of terrain where players can battle, discover and socialize. Although at the beginning, the place seemed too massive and quite lonely because of the few inhabitants and wide grounds, it was expected that as the playing population grew, so would the game.

Players begin the game as simple citizens. As they train and reach a certain level, they are given a chance to choose from 4 character classes: the Fighter, the Hunter, the Healer and the Mage. Fighters, as the name suggests, become the central force in battles. They are the ones responsible for holding back the enemy, protecting others. Although they are not necessary in smaller fights, they are absolutely a necessity in larger battles. Theirs is mostly offensive skills, but their defensive techniques can be enhanced by the use of equipment like the armor. The fighter can become a Shadow knight, a Warrior or a Paladin.

Hunters are also good warriors, but instead of using offense, their techniques are based mostly on tactics. They are able to attack enemies faster but using less intensity and with fewer weapon choices. Hunters can develop into Archers, Rangers, Bards and Thieves. Healers are essential parts of a group as they are able to revive, heal and boost the skills of their allies. They are able to use spells to defend from or attack opponents. But it must be noted that the Healers' powers are not limited to spells. They also have others means in which to do their tasks. Healers can become a Cleric, a Monk, an Enchanter, or a Druid.

Lastly, Mages are the masters of magic. They are able to use extremely powerful spells as both defense and offense. The Mage can turn into an Illusionist, a Necromancer or a Wizard. This free-to-play MMORPG had the potential to provide players with hours of endless fun. A sense of community is highlighted in this game as it has a Social XP system that encourages interaction between players. Other than that, Dark and Light is built around exciting adventures that include crafting, acquiring territory, managing a fortress and more. Unfortunately, this online MMORPG was shut down last 2008. Players are on a lookout for when it could possibly be re-released.
