Up until now there hadn't been announced whether Phantasy Star Online 2 will be free to play or subscription based. Now Sega revealed details.

The online game will be free to play. So when it will be released this summer you can play it for free. There will also be an item-shop in which you can buy items for real money. This will be optional, though. No word on what items you will be able to buy and how this may affect the balancing in the game. We expect a system similar to other games and hope that Sega will pay attention so that players cannot buy unfair advantages in the shop.

Everything gets simpler in games. Less skills, less complex controls, less windows on the screen... Developers like Bioware even try to simplify the controls of game so far so that you need only one button for all functions.

This way even your grandfather can play and enoy videogames. Coregamers don't like this, though. They want to do something in a game, be challenged by it and don't want to only push one button to see what happens.

All fans of the online roleplaying game Runes of Magic can rejoice because there will be a new addon released this June. Fires of Shadowforge will mark the fifth chapter of the game.

Aside from new areas and dungeons the addon will introduce the dwarves as a playable race into the game. The "Dwarves of Shadowforge" seemed forgotten for a very long time. After a dispute with the other clans they were banned to the underground. Here they established their own kingdom where they perfected the runecrafting and collected spiritual energy. But their exile came with a price.

The developers of the onlinegame Seven Souls are working on a new game right now. Legend of Souls will be another fantasy online-roleplaying game.

This new game is aimed at adult players and is depicting the battles very brutally. Another adult theme will be girls with next to no clothes. But the main reason why Legend of Souls will be an adult game will be the gambling-system. Just like with Seven Souls you will be able to gain gambling points by killing enemies and monsters. Those point allow you to take part in gambling which caused quite a debate in Asia when Seven Souls was released with this system.

Trion Worlds has released a new trailer for the upcoming free to play strategy game End of Nations which not only reveals new information about the game but also about the release schedule.

In the video it shows that the closed beta of the onlinegame will start in spring whereas the open beta is planned for summer. After this the game will be released free to play. Then everyone looking for a new strategy game will have to choose one side and fight against the Order of Nations in a futuristic war. In the near future there will be more information revealed about unique classes, hero units and giant boss battles.

Sony Online Entertainment announces that the online-roleplaying game Vanguard: Saga of Heroes will become free to play this summer!

After Everquest 1 and 2 became free to play, now the hardcore-game from Sony will follow this path. The producer letter says: "We see free-to-play (or as we refer to it, Free to Play. Your Way.) as a big part of our future and we like the flexibility it offers players. Therefore, I'm happy to announce Vanguard will be the next in line of our AAA games to make this transition." There are no details on the exact model yet but players should expect something similar to Everquest 2 and DC Universe Online.

Guild Wars 2 is no traditional free to play online-roleplaying game as you have to buy the game in a shop like every other retail game.

But you can play it without any costs. Partly. Developer ArenaNet now told about plans to include microtransactions into the game. There will be an ingame-shop in which you can buy items. Some of those items are just to enhance the individualization of your character but others are there to speed up your advancement in the game. These items will be there to shorten the time you need to accomplish certain things.
